Spooky Spring 2019 Sponsors

On the 31st of October 2018, we hosted Spooky Spring 2018 and WOWZA! It went off! We planned for maybe 500 people if we were lucky, and we had at least 2,000 lost souls through the door over the course of the evening. Plans are already underway for next year's event, but in the meantime enjoy the pictures!

A huge "Thank You!" to our sponsors, volunteers, market vendors, and everyone who helped to make this event such a success. We hope to see you all again next year!

FAQs for Attendees

Q. What time should I arrive?
A. For trick-or-treating, gift bags, the market, and face painting, please arrive between 4:00pm and 7:00pm. For the disco and monster movies, please arrive between 7:00pm and 10:00pm.

Q. Will there be food and drink available after the market closes?

A. Yes! We will be running a small shop selling snacks and drinks for the duration of the disco, but we do recommend you grab your dinner from our lovely vendors at the market while you can.

Q. Who is eligible for the free Trick or Treating and/or the free gift bag?

A. Children under the age of 10, but availability is limited so we are unable to guarantee every child will get to participate. We'll do our best, though!

Q. I don't live in Turangi. Can I still come or bring my kids?

A. Absolutely! Everyone is welcome! Turangi is the best kept secret of the North Island, and you should all come and check out what a gorgeous little town full of awesome people we are.

Q. Is there parking on site/nearby?
A. The market is hosted in a large car park, and Turangi also has a second huge carpark on the other side of the mall, less than 500m away. There is also lots of on-street parking.

Q. Is there public transport nearby?

A. Yes, we are just across the road from the main bus stop at the iSite, which is serviced by Intercity Coachlines.

Q. Are there toilets and washing facilities on site?

A. Yes! There are toilets and a full kitchen in the hall, plus a set of public toilets on the far side of the car park.

Q. Is there any furniture provided?

A. There will be chairs and couches available inside the hall for the duration of the event.

Q. Is there anything nearby for the kids to do while they're all hopped up on free sugar?

A. Oh yeah, definitely. There are two awesome playgrounds, a skate park, and a basketball court within 200 meters of the hall, plus the lovely Turtle Pools right next door.

Q. What is the rainy day plan?

A. We will go ahead, rain or shine! If it is rainy or particularly windy, we will move the craft vendors, face painter, and anyone whose business is water/wind sensitive inside the hall for the duration of the market.

Q. Should I bring cash to the market?

A. We recommend it. Some of our vendors can take Eftpos, but not all of them. However, there is an ATM located in the shopping centre right next to us so if you need to get cash out you can.

Q. Is the event accessible?

A. Yes. The whole area is very flat and there are disabled toilets on site.

Q. My child has special dietary requirements, such as a serious allergy. What can I do?

A. We want this event to be accessible to everyone, so please feel free contact Victoria at Cheeky Kea (email) to make a special arrangement for your child. If you want, we would be happy for you to provide dietary-appropriate treats for your child and we can assign them to vendors so your child can still enjoy the fun of trick-or-treating.

Information for Vendors

It is FREE for vendors to have a stall at the market, though donations are very welcome! The only thing we ask from our vendors is that you please keep a big bowl of lollies around your booth so that the local kids can come trick-or-treating off you - and we'll even provide the lollies, unless you want to bring your own!

We welcome all kinds of vendors so long as their service is family-friendly, including but not limited to:

- Food trucks.

- Food service providers (e.g. bakers).

- Arts & crafts.

- Retailers.

- Charity Fundraisers.

- Entertainers (e.g. musicians, magicians, etc).

If you would like to attend, please fill in this form.

FAQs for Vendors

Q. Will you be providing power for the vendors?
A. Yes, we are renting a small generator and the hall has power. However, if you can provide your own power then we strongly recommend that you do, because it's only a little generator!

Q. What time should I arrive?
A. Setup is between 12:00pm and 4:00pm. The earlier you get there the better spot you'll get, but you might end up standing around for a while before the public gets there. The market is open to the public from 4:00pm.

Q. Do I have to be registered with the council?

A. If you provide any kind of food service, then yes. We will need to sight your registration or a valid exemption at or before the event, please. You must also conform with all appropriate council guidelines for this kind of event.

Q. Can I provide my own treats for the Trick or Treating?

A. Absolutely! So long as it is safe for the children and covered by any appropriate council registrations, you are welcome to bring your own treats. We are estimating 500 children will attend. If you run out of your own treats, come and see the shop in the main hall and we'll give you some of our supply.

A. The hall is equipped with couches, chairs, and trestle tables, but I don't think we're allowed to take them outside the hall.

Q. What is the rainy day plan?

A. We will go ahead, rain or shine! If it is rainy or particularly windy, we will move the craft vendors, face painter, and anyone whose business is water/wind sensitive inside the hall for the duration of the market.
